Apples, apples and more apples...

Well as we are getting farther into autumn the leaves are changing, and the temperature is getting cooler. Along with this the apples are falling off the trees too. And so I find myself with more than we can eat. Which is good because mothing is better than fresh apple pie on a cold night! Whip up some hot chocolate in the Cocomotion and we have ourselves on heck of a dessert ready to watch a movie. So I find myself once again using nap time as a catch up time for my endless chore list. Lindsay however is getting a little old for nap time so she decided she needed to take some pictures of mom peeling the apples. Note this is a 4 yr old as the photographer! Please don't mind my messy house in the background. Like I said I have an endless chore list these days.

First bowl of cereal

Well I know we are a few weeks shy of her being four months old but I could tell she was ready. I guess after having three kids you can just tell when the milk just isn't cutting it anymore. It has actually been a few weeks in the making that she is just not satisfied after being fed. But I wanted to hold off and be a good little mom by following the rules and not feeding solids until four months old. Today I just couldn't take it anymore and busted out the rice cereal. At first you could tell she didn't know what to think.

Then once she had a few spoonfulls she decided it was ok.

And then after a dozen times I decided she was done since she was getting a little fussy. She got really mad when I took the cereal away. After cleaning her up and topping her off with a little milk though she fell fast asleep. It was a pretty good afternoon.

To much "Love" for Lilly

Most of you who have a few kids know about the delemas of having a baby with older siblings. Well I have this problem of to much love for the baby. By oldest being 4 1/2 and almost 3 just love their baby sister to death. I have to admit at times it is cute and even helpful. However at other times I am telling them to "leave the baby alone". Most of the time we have to keep her in some sort of baby contraption just so the sisters don't mess with her to much. Poor Lilly. So the other day Darrell came home for lunch like he always does. I am in the kitchen and the girls are picking up their toys. Darrell calls for me from the family room and says I have to come here. Before I round the corner though he asks if the girls had been picking up toys today. And of course I said yes they were in the middle of doing so. So as I turn the corner to look here is what I see. Lilly asleep with a "hat" on. Kids, full of imagination. It was to funny to get mad.

My first solo canning

Can you believe I am 30 yrs old and have never done this on my own. I am very proud of myself today for taking on canning these tomatoes, by myself. I vividly remember my mother canning growing up. However my mother-in-law does a moderate amount every year and expects us to jump in and help. So I took it upon myself to get some supplies this year. Books, hot water bath canner, jars, etc. So I hope after watching her can the last five years I can do this. I guess we will see. Just hope we don't all die from Bochallism(spelling?).

New Headbands

I have to share these pictures with all of you. My oldest has decided that she loves headbands and wears them everyday no matter how I do her hair she adds a headband. She usually wears those cheap plastic ones but I bought some fabric ones yesterday thinking I could add some of those gerber daisy flowers to them for church. Needless to say we need a lesson on putting on the new headbands. Lexi was the most hilarious though I call her look the "Prince and the new Power Generation" hairdo. Looks just like Prince used to do his hair back in the 80's.

My husband the crazy driver!

So my husband as many of probably don't know loves anything with a motor. I tell him he is a self made mechanic. Growing up he fixed many of the tractors and other vehicles by mearly trial and error. He loves to take anything and "improve it". He has updated a Dodge gas engine to a diesel and changed intakes etc. His newest project is to take this old Corolla of my sisters and not only get it running again but make it run on Hydrogen for better gas millage. He says once he works out all the kinks he will be doing the same to my Yukon so I can actually afford to drive the thing. As for now the Corolla is what I will be driving the kids to school in.

So yesterday he went on a 4 wheeling ride with the scouts. He kind of invited himself (I laughed) because he is the "Elder's Quorm Pres". He was just looking for an excuse to go riding his new Raptor. Anyhow he scares me to death on this thing. It tops out at 80 mph and let me tell you he tops it out...all the time. So they went up to Silver City and I guess he brought an extra 4 wheeler for a less active kid. And this kid was not very experienced so he kept rolling it on top of him. But Darrell has so much patience he would just pick the kid up and roll the 4 wheeler back up and away they would go. When he got home I could tell by his face it had been a good experience for everyone. But check out this picture...now you know why I say he is crazy on this thing! And this is normal for him!
